Vaughan wins prestigious MarCom Awards for sixth consecutive year

The City of Vaughan’s Communications, Marketing and Engagement department is once again being recognized for their excellence in this field with several MarCom Awards

The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievements by marketing and communication professionals from more than 25 countries. The City’s Communications, Marketing and Engagement department received five MarCom Awards and four Honourable Mentions in 2024

 

This is the sixth consecutive year the team has been recognized by this organization, and this achievement was celebrated by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council during a special ceremonial presentation at the May 13 Committee of the Whole (2) meeting. 

 

The department won two Platinum awards, the highest honour, for:

  • City Hall Connects (quarterly newsletter mailed to all homes and businesses) – Creativity, Design and Direct Mail Category
  • Woodbridge Avenue Improvements and Streetscaping Completion – Strategic Communications, Communications/Public Relations and Communications Program Category

 

In addition, three Gold awards were received for:

  • Planning Process Brochure – Creativity, Design and Brochure Category
  • Introducing you to…Series – Web Based, Web Video and Series Category
  • School Zone Safety – Cycling Safety – Web Based, Social Media and Social Video Category

 

There were also four Honourable Mentions for:

  • Public Meeting Video – Web Based, Web Video and Educational Category
  • 2024 Waste Collection Schedule – Creativity, Design and Calendar Category
  • Urban Forest Management Plan – Web Based, Social Media and Social Video Category
  • 2023 Water Conservation Plan – Strategic Communications, Communications/Public Relations and Communications Plan Category

 

Each year, the MarCom Awards competition receives more than 6,500 print and digital entries. Judges look for organizations and individuals with talent that exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark in the industry.

 

Vaughan’s Communications, Marketing and Engagement department, based in the Strategic Initiatives portfolio, employs various communications methods to keep the community in the know, including daily media products, proactive media outreach, eNewsletters, social media, website content, mailers, signage and much more. That is in addition to extensive internal communications efforts for staff. The department also uses compelling visuals and strategic storytelling to keep the community informed and engaged.
