Ellen Contardi is the 2026 Ward 2 Civic Hero!
During tonight’s Committee of the Whole (Public Meeting), Mayor Steven Del Duca, Ward 2 Councillor Adriano Volpentesta and Members of Council recognized Ellen Contardi as the 2026 Ward 2 Civic Hero with a special ceremonial presentation.
Ellen is a passionate advocate for children, committed to improving the lives of individuals with autism and their families. Driven by an understanding of the challenges faced by people with autism, Ellen has led Waves of Changes for Autism since 2016. As president of the organization, she has played a vital role in providing hope, support and resources to families in Vaughan navigating the complexities of raising children with autism.
In addition to her community leadership, Ellen has served as an educational assistant with York Region District School Board, where she supported students with diverse learning needs and abilities. Through her compassion, advocacy and commitment to inclusion, she has helped countless children build confidence, reach their potential and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
