The By-law Enforcement Activity Map provides information regarding investigation activities for the past two years by the By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services department within the City of Vaughan.

The map can be searched by municipal address or the case file number assigned to a compliant. If there is a current or recent investigation of the property, a colour coded dot will appear. Users can click on the dot to find out the status of the investigation and a few additional details, such as if an order has been issued or if legal action has been taken.

Answer

If you know of a by-law violation on a property, but it is not showing up, it means it has not been reported. Visit Enforcement and Animal Complaints to find our more information about filing a complaint with By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services.

Answer

When a complaint about a by-law contravention is filed with the city, a case file is created and assigned to a By-law Enforcement Officer for investigation. The officer will contact the person who made the complaint and carry out inspections to determine if a contravention has occurred. If a contravention has occurred, the officer will commence enforcement activities, ranging from education to escalated enforcement options, such as including issuance of orders, notices, penalty notices and/or proceedings through the courts or even remediation. The goal of all enforcement activities is to ensure that people and properties are in compliance with all City of Vaughan by-laws to ensure Vaughan continues to be a great place to live, work and play.
