Seven ways the City of Vaughan is incorporating sustainable development practices in city-building
As a forward-thinking municipality, the City of Vaughan is paving a green future. The City of Vaughan offers many online services 24 hours a day, seven days a week through Service Vaughan – including buying or exchanging blue boxes, green bins and kitchen containers! Backyard composters and garbage tags are also available for purchase. Here’s how:
Do you ever wonder how you get your water supply? It’s from watermains, which are underground pipes that are a part of the City-owned local water distribution system and deliver safe and clean drinking water to Vaughan residents and businesses. But sometimes – most commonly in the winter – watermains break.

to 2026 Financial Plan, reflecting the continued commitment to keep property
tax rates low, respect taxpayers’ money and deliver quality public services
that residents, businesses and visitors rely on each day.

The Yonge Street Area Study, which began in 2008, was initiated to determine an urban design and land use framework for the lands on the west side of Yonge Street, from Steeles Avenue to Highway 407 (excluding the Thornhill Heritage Conservation District), and on the north side of Steeles Avenue, from Yonge Street to west of Hilda Avenue.
The City of Vaughan has received an application for the approval of a Secondary Plan in the Maple Community. The Maple GO Station Secondary Plan area is located on the south side of McNaughton Road East, west of Troon Avenue, north of Hill Street, and east of the existing Maple GO Station. The lands subject to the Secondary Plan have an area of 8.120ha. The surrounding area will also be examined to ensure appropriate relationships are established and for compatibility between the proposed and existing
