For over 40 years, Mario G. Racco has been a devoted servant to the City of Vaughan, dedicating his career to fostering growth and unity within the community. Beginning as the youngest elected member on Vaughan Council in 1982, Mario went on to serve as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in 2003, representing Thornhill, and held the distinction of being the Founding President of the Brownridge Ratepayers Association.
There’s ‘snow’ time like the present to develop proper waste disposal habits! Litter left on the ground can make the winter months even messier, so the City of Vaughan is providing steps everyone can take to ensure our community stays clean for all to enjoy.
As one of the fastest
growing cities in Canada, Vaughan is continually changing. But the buildings
don’t just get there – all development applications undergo a careful review by
City staff, Vaughan Council and public agencies, where appropriate. The City also
asks for feedback from residents all throughout the planning process, well before
proposals are approved.
Black Canadians and
their communities have been vital in shaping Canada’s heritage and identity. Black History Month provides the City of
Vaughan with an opportunity to reflect, learn and educate citizens on the experiences,
contributions and achievements of Black Canadians and the many diverse Black
communities.
Did you know the City of Vaughan maintains more than 150 stormwater management ponds? Unlike natural bodies of water, stormwater ponds are designed and built to collect rainfall and surface water runoff. They may look safe for skating, fishing or playing on – but they are not! Stormwater ponds are not made or intended for recreational use, so keep a safe distance away.

Goal
The study will assess the role of the existing Natural Heritage Network (NHN) in maintaining elements of biodiversity and ecological functions for the long term, consistent with Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) 2.1.2, and propose additional NHN areas to meet biodiversity and ecosystem function targets.
