As a reflection of this ongoing commitment, the City adopted an update to its Indigenous Land Acknowledgement on June 22, 2021. Council endorsed an amendment to address existing inaccuracies. This includes changing the title from “Aboriginal Territorial Acknowledgement” to “Indigenous Land Acknowledgement,” in addition to a revised statement. It was ratified before Council on Tuesday, June 22 and reads as follows:

The mission of the City’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy and multi-year action plan (PDF) is continuous commitment to identifying forms of discrimination that create barriers to equity and inclusion in the workplace, and addressing inequities in access to services, community participation and civic engagement.

The Promenade Centre area is about 95 acres of land bounded by Centre Street, Bathurst Street, Clark Avenue West and New Westminster Drive. The City of Vaughan has completed Promenade Centre Secondary Plan, and is undertaking the Promenade Centre Public Realm Framework and Urban Design Guidelines Study to guide the area's growth.

The City of Vaughan currently supports four community garden projects on City-owned land.
