Due to extreme temperatures, the City of Vaughan has announced the opening of a number of cooling centres across the City, effective Thursday, July 5, 2012. The City is extending hours of operations at some community centres and splash pads in response to the hot weather.

​More than 300 residents and community group members joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council to celebrate the City of Vaughan’s seventh annual Peace Tree Day celebration at North Thornhill Community Centre on June 24. 

Thousands of residents came out to celebrate Canada’s 145th birthday and enjoy the music of Platinum Blonde at the City of Vaughan’s Canada Day celebrations on Sunday, July 1 at Mackenzie Glen District Park in Maple.

​The City of Vaughan is sending a three person delegation to Israel as part of an exploratory business mission July 2 to July 9. The mission coincides with the CleanTech 2012 Exhibition in Tel Aviv.

​The 2012 Mayor's Gala will celebrate the new attitude and energy in the City of Vaughan. The Gala is the City’s premier annual fundraising event and proceeds will help support Vaughan’s not-for-profit and community organizations.

​Carrville Mill Park was officially opened Tuesday as residents joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the occasion.

​City of Vaughan staff will be reaching out to the community to encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles by taking the City’s Active Living Campaign to Vaughan Mills Mall on Friday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
