Vaughan’s Waste Collection Schedule wins third consecutive Municipal Waste Association Award!
The City of Vaughan’s yearly Waste Collection Schedule is one of the City’s most-read publications – and for the third year in a row, it’s being recognized for its innovation.
The City’s 2025 Waste Collection Schedule won Bronze in the Municipal Waste Association’s 2025 Promotion and Education Awards in the Print Tool category!
Every year, municipalities are awarded for launching a creative and innovative campaign, tool, strategy, event or program that engages residents in waste diversion and reduction. Winners were announced at the Municipal Waste Association 2025 Spring Workshop on Wednesday, May 28. This achievement was recognized by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council during a ceremonial presentation at the Tuesday, June 24 Council meeting.
The City’s 2025 Waste Collection Schedule is a testament to the care and dedication that goes into constantly improving waste collection for residents of Vaughan. The Waste Collection Schedule is created through extensive research and consultation with the community about how it is designed to highlight information that matters most to them. It demonstrates the City’s commitment to protecting the environment and fostering a sustainable community today and making a cleaner community for generations to come.
The schedule has an easy-to-read design, with illustrations and a legend to follow all special waste collection days including: leaf and yard waste collection, Double-Up Days, Curbside Giveaway Days and Christmas tree collection. The schedule also includes tips on what kind of waste to put in each bin, furthering the City’s waste diversion efforts.
Printed on 100 per cent recycled paper, the 2025 Waste Collection Schedule supports the City’s long-standing commitment to waste reduction. In addition, it includes reminders about Vaughan’s textile donation bins and the Recycle Coach app, both of which encourage recycling, reusing and building a stronger and more sustainable community. Alongside highlighting the City’s many waste services, the schedule is also offered in personalized blue and yellow calendars based on collection zones and high-contrast black and white calendars for even easier readability.
