Attend the June 14 event and enjoy 30 days of recreation!

June is Recreation and Parks Month – a time to promote the benefits of recreation and parks for our physical, social and environmental health. To celebrate, the City of Vaughan has a number of ways you can get involved and be active.

Recreation and Parks Month event

You’re invited to attend a free outdoor event in the courtyard at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. W.) from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14. There  will be music, popcorn, a Zumba class (located in the courtyard) and a pickleball game (located on the tennis court). Join us and spend your lunch hour working up a sweat! There will also be booths set up in the courtyard featuring literature, activities and/or giveaways.

30 days of recreation

Throughout June, the City is offering 30 days of activities at community centres for all ages and interests! From acrylic painting and panda-drawing workshops, to coding a LEGO robot and rollerblading, swimming and so many other sports, there's something fun for everyone! Pre-registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

Registered recreation program highlights include:

  • Ocean-themed crafting and a panda-drawing workshop for children, as well as acrylic painting for adults (coffee and treats included!)
  • Family-friendly programs for parents and children to enjoy together: mindfulness, rollerblading, basketball, badminton and creating eco-friendly art during a nature hike
  • A range of sports, including archery, tennis, badminton, taekwondo and pickleball
  • Coding LEGO robots, computer programming and creating Roblox video games
  • Counselling sessions regarding mental health, bullying and support for families with autistic youth, delivered in partnership with York Support Services Network
