Nominate someone posthumously for the Order of Vaughan Legacy Award
Do you know someone whose legacy continues to inspire Vaughan? In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Order of Vaughan, the City is proud to introduce the new Legacy Award, recognizing one individual posthumously each year for their enduring contributions to the community.
The Order of Vaughan Legacy Award will be presented annually to honour one deceased individual whose civic, cultural, philanthropic or community leadership has created a meaningful and enduring impact on Vaughan. This new recognition ensures that the stories, achievements and legacies of those who helped build our city continue to be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
Eligible nominees must have made a demonstrable, substantial and sustained impact on Vaughan through longstanding civic, cultural or philanthropic contributions. They need to have established or provided long-term leadership of an organization, institution, program or initiative of enduring value to the city.
Nominations are open until Friday, Aug. 28. Visit vaughan.ca/OrderOfVaughan to review the eligibility criteria and submit a nomination.
To nominate someone for the Order of Vaughan Legacy Award, you must complete a nomination form and submit it with supporting documents that speak to the breadth and depth of the nominee’s accomplishments. You must also provide a letter of support from a living relative of the nominee.
Additional supporting materials may include news articles, reviews, writing samples or examples of the nominee’s work. Please submit supporting documents rather than website or video links.
Nomination forms and documents can be submitted by email to orderofvaughan@vaughan.ca or by mail to the Office of the City Clerk, Attention Order of Vaughan, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., Vaughan, ON L6A 1T1.
Once the nomination period closes on Friday, Aug. 28, the Order of Vaughan Selection Committee will review nominations and recommend candidates to Council for approval.
The Order of Vaughan was created in 2016 as part of the City’s 25th anniversary celebrations to recognize individuals who have made meaningful contributions to Vaughan’s civic life. Since its inception, 80 individuals have been invested in the Order of Vaughan.
