A vibrant new place to play is coming to the Ward 4 community – Ironstone Square!

On May 27, Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council gathered to break ground on Ironstone Square. Located at 5 Bass Pro Mills Dr., this new urban recreational hub will be the latest addition to the residential development in the Vaughan Mills community.

The park will span over 1.6 hectares (just under four acres) and is conveniently located southeast of the Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre. It will offer a variety of recreational and social opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages.

Amenities will include:

  • accessible walking paths with tree shade and seating

  • a large central lawn

  • a multi-use sports court for soccer and basketball

  • a plaza with seating areas, shade canopy and raised planting beds

  • a splashpad

  • illuminated features

  • junior and senior playgrounds

  • naturalized planting areas with native plants

Ironstone Square is designed as both a place for outdoor play and community connection. In addition to its outdoor amenities, a new public indoor recreation space on the main floor of the 8960 Jane St. residential tower adjacent to the square will be developed as part of the next phase. Once complete, this indoor space will be available for public use, be accessible from the park and have complementary uses, such as public washrooms and a community space. Ironstone Square is anticipated to be open to the public in 2027.
