Vaughan Council votes to opt-out of allowing licensed retail cannabis stores

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua’s motion to opt-out from allowing licensed retail cannabis stores to operate in Vaughan received was passed with majority support from Council.

The decision was made following a Special Committee of the Whole meeting on Jan. 21 at City Hall. During the meeting, the public had the opportunity to share their thoughts about licensed retail cannabis stores and engage directly with Mayor and Members of Council.

There are many ways individuals and businesses can partner with the City to support the community, including donations, in-kind as well as financial gifts. If you are looking for a way to give back to your local community, a charitable contribution will help provide high-quality and affordable services that respond to the needs of the community. All financial documents or gifts-in-kind are eligible for a donation tax receipt if the value is above $25 as the City of Vaughan is a qualified donee according to the CRA.
