Plastic Free July

Challenge yourself to reduce single-use plastics

Did you know single-use plastics make up most of the plastic litter found in freshwater environments? That’s why the City of Vaughan promotes the Plastic Free July movement annually! It’s a global campaign encouraging you to reduce or eliminate single-use plastics from your life to decrease pollution in streets, waterways and green spaces.

What’s your vision for North Maple Regional Park?

North Maple Regional Park (NMRP) is the City of Vaughan’s largest and most ambitious park project. Work to transform the site into a signature destination is well underway – and we’re calling on you to have a say!

As Phase 2 of construction wraps up in the park, the City is beginning to create the NMRP Master Plan. This long-term plan will outline development, programming and management for the full 900-acre site. It will focus on future park areas that are currently not available for public use.

Building Vaughan

Vaughan is a city in demand. And as one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, it continues to evolve. But city building doesn’t happen overnight. Well before construction begins, developments undergo a careful review by City of Vaughan staff, Vaughan Council, public agencies (such as the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, York Region and provincial ministries, where appropriate) … and you!

Public feedback is a vital part of the planning process and there are many ways to have a say before applications are approved.

Got excess garbage? Tag it!

Have you ever collected more household garbage than usual – even more than the collection day limit? The City of Vaughan offers garbage tags for purchase if you’re in a pickle.

Here’s everything you need to know about garbage tags and managing excess waste:

What are garbage tags?

A garbage tag must be attached to any item placed curbside exceeding the three-item limit, for up to 13 items, per household.
