Vaughan’s recent entry in a competition showcasing excellence in Geographic Information System (GIS) technology has resulted in a 2013 People’s Choice Award. The City’s ‘Vaughan Viewer’ was given a provincial award for Best MApp (Maps and Applications) at Be Spatial, an annual event held by the Urban and Regional Information System Association (URISA).

The City of Vaughan recently received a grant from Public Safety Canada’s Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) to cover up to 45 per cent of the cost of two Digital Vehicular Repeater Systems (DVRS) for Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service.
The City of Vaughan has launched three new public safety videos in tandem with Emergency Preparedness Week, May 5-11. The videos are part of the City’s PrepE Emergency Preparedness Campaign, which is designed to inform residents about the importance of being equipped for emergency situations.
The topics of the new videos include:
An exhibition of banners entitled Being Jewish in Ontario: A Pictorial Celebration will be on display in the main atrium at Vaughan City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive. Hours for public viewing are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
