Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has issued the following statement.
I was
pleased to join Premier Kathleen Wynne, Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca,
York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson, Spadina-Fort York Member of
Parliament Adam Vaughan and Toronto Transit Commission Chair Josh Colle, at the
site of the future Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) Station today to mark the
completion of track installation for the
Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension.

I was pleased to join
Minister Steven Del Duca this morning where he announced that the Province of
Ontario will be investing $55 million towards planning for the Yonge North
Subway Extension.
The compassion and generosity of the residents in
the City of Vaughan was demonstrated last night as almost 1,000 people gathered
at the Mayor’s Gala, raising a record $2 million to help make a difference in
the lives of people who need it most. The annual event benefits more than 100
not-for-profit organizations that provide essential services in the City of
Vaughan and beyond.
Funds will go to the
Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal
The City of Vaughan
announced a $15,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal
following a Council-endorsed member’s resolution introduced by Mayor Maurizio
Bevilacqua. The funds will come from proceeds of the Mayor’s Gala and Golf
Tournament to support the citizens of Fort McMurray, Alta. who have been forced
from their homes by wildfires.
