Vaughan Community Centres Offer March Break Activities and Camps

The City of Vaughan is offering a variety of March Break drop-in activities and camps at participating recreation facilities from March 7 to 16.
Free recreational swimming, sponsored by Tim Hortons, is available at Al Palladini, Chancellor, Dufferin Clark, Father E. Bulfon, Garnet A. Williams, Maple, North Thornhill and Vellore Village pools at select times during the week.
Councillor Carella Named New Chair of Finance, Administration and Audit Committee

Councillor Tony Carella has been appointed as the new chair of the City of Vaughan Finance, Administration and Audit Committee. Councillor Marilyn Iafrate served as chair for the past two years.
This statutory committee was renamed the Finance, Administration and Audit committee this year. It considers matters relating to the City’s finances, budget, audit function and corporate administrative matters and reports directly to Council.

Waterscapes Exhibition on Display at Vaughan City Hall

Waterscapes: Paintings by Ernestine Tahedl, the second annual exhibition in the Planet Earth Series, is now on display in the Vaughan City Hall Atrium Gallery. The exhibition coincides with two dates dedicated to championing international awareness of global conservation and environmental sustainability – Earth Hour on March 29 and Earth Day on April 22.
Vaughan Receives Award for 2013 Business Mission to Israel

The City of Vaughan has earned an award of excellence from the Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) for its business mission to Israel.
Vaughan Council was presented with the award on Feb. 18 by members of the City’s Economic Development department.
The award of excellence was in the category of excellence in collaboration and partnership, and strategic partnership with educational institutions.
Council Hands Out Awards to Mark Ontario Heritage

Two awards were handed out at the Feb. 18 Council meeting to mark Ontario Heritage Week.
Ann Crichton-Harris and Lyn MacMillan received the Ontario Heritage Trust’s Heritage Community Recognition award for their work in advocating for the preservation of the Carrville Post Office which was built around 1845 at 1050 Rutherford Rd.
