Vaughan sets the stage for Performing and Cultural Arts Centre
The curtain is one step closer to rising on Vaughan’s future Performing and Cultural Arts Centre!
Following a rigorous and competitive procurement process, the City of Vaughan has selected the globally renowned consortium led by Theatre Projects Inc., with support from Turner & Townsend and Lord Cultural Resources, to advance this significant city-building project. Together, they will lead the development of both the business and capital plans for the venue.
To celebrate this significant milestone, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council, representatives from QuadReal Property Group, and other community and business representatives held a special event today at the future site of the facility in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
The multinational team has a unique blend of global insight and strong Canadian representation, with two of the three firms operating in Toronto, ensuring the future venue reflects the best of both international innovation and local identity. The consulting group has proven success in bringing globally significant cultural arts venues to life in leading cultural arts destinations worldwide, including Bergen, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris and Shanghai.
The City remains committed to delivering the Performing and Cultural Arts Centre, in alignment with its bold vision to elevate Vaughan’s cultural vitality and creative economy. By partnering with world-class consultants and a group with a strong Canadian presence, the City will harness both global expertise and local perspectives to advance this ambitious project.
In June 2024, the City and QuadReal entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to guide planning for this state-of-the-art facility in Assembly Park in the VMC.
