Vaughan holds citizenship ceremony to welcome new Canadians
On July 1, the City of Vaughan hosted a citizenship ceremony for 49 new Canadians at Vaughan City Hall – marking the final step in their journey to become citizens.
Participants took the oath of citizenship, a deeply symbolic and meaningful moment, as they embrace their new Canadian identity. This ceremony was brought to Vaughan City Hall as part of a Member’s Resolution introduced by Mayor Steven Del Duca in October 2024.
In the spirit of Canadian pride, a maple leaf was incorporated in the Vaughan sign in the City Hall courtyard.
QUOTE
“Vaughan is a welcoming and diverse community, with more than half of our residents born abroad and more than 105 different languages spoken. This wide cultural representation is what makes our city, and our country, one in which many dream of living and raising children. I am thrilled that we are bringing the national tradition of citizenship ceremonies to a local level. As Mayor, my hope is they will serve as an opportunity to promote togetherness and celebrate the diversity of Vaughan’s residents, which is one of our greatest strengths.”
- Mayor Steven Del Duca
