Vaughan dances to the rhythm of Tamil traditions at annual celebration
On Jan. 21, the City of Vaughan came alive as the community joined Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council to celebrate the vibrant traditions of Tamil art, heritage and culture at the City’s fourth annual Tamil Heritage Month and Thai Pongal event.
Guests enjoyed an evening filled with warm greetings, traditional music and performances.
“I was pleased to see so many members of the community come out and enjoy the City of Vaughan’s fourth annual Tamil Heritage Month and Thai Pongal event,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca. “It was an unforgettable evening showcasing the rich traditions and vibrant culture of the Tamil community through incredible food and performances. Vaughan truly shines because of our vibrant, diverse and engaged community! I want to extend my thanks to everyone for coming, and to City staff for their dedication and effort in making this celebration truly special.”
Canada is proud to be home to one of the largest Tamil populations in the world, and, in January, the City honours the many contributions that Tamil Canadians have made and continue to make to Vaughan.
