The City of Vaughan has been recognized nationally with the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Award of Excellence in the Planning and Analysis, Large Scale Design category for its Vaughan Complete Streets Guide (PDF). 

 

This prestigious award – presented at the Dec. 2 Committee of Whole (2) Meeting – celebrates the City’s leadership in creating a safe and sustainable transportation network that supports all road users – whether they walk, wheel, cycle, take transit or drive. The now award-winning Vaughan Complete Streets Guide (PDF) provides a comprehensive framework for designing, building and maintaining streets that balance mobility with livability, supporting Vaughan’s vision for well-planned and connected communities. 

 

Developed through extensive research and consultation, the guide establishes a consistent approach to street design that integrates transportation, land use, environmental sustainability and community well-being. It outlines strategies and design principles to ensure streets serve as vibrant public spaces that enhance safety, accessibility and comfort for everyone. 

 

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Awards of Excellence recognize exemplary work in landscape architecture that demonstrates environmental, social and economic sustainability. Vaughan’s recognition underscores its dedication to innovative and evidence-based planning in shaping a healthy and connected city.
