Stay warm and have fun this winter with the City of Vaughan’s recreation programs, swim lessons and aquatic leadership programs 

 

The Winter Recreation eGuide is now available online – check it out today to find the program that right for you – we have something for everyone!  

 

Swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses

Get ready to dive into the pool! Registration for winter swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses opens on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 a.m. at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Registration for non-residents opens on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Programs start on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at all Vaughan community centre pools. 

 

Learn-to-swim programming is available for all ages, starting with parents and tot classes for children as young as four months old to levels specifically designed for adult non-swimmers. For those aged 13 years and older, training and certification in aquatic leadership courses are available to prepare participants for employment as a swim instructor or lifeguard. 

 

The online registration system is available 24-7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. Details can be found at vaughan.ca/swim.

 

General recreation programs 

Registration for winter general recreation programs opens on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 a.m. Registration for non-residents opens on Thursday, Nov. 27. Programming begins Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at all community centres, the City Playhouse Theatre and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space. 

 

Here are some program highlights:

  • Family (parent and child): toddler playtime and crafting, dance, fitness and sports, musical jam sessions and making music, infant massage, cooking and baking, Zumba, bootcamp for new parents, Pilates for new parents, family connections, learn to skate, archery, badminton, multi-sport and learn to play tennis.

  • Preschool: Vaughan Playschool, drawing and clay modeling, cooking and baking, mindfulness for little leaders, Disney- and superhero-themed fitness, dance and theatre, STEM, karate and taekwondo, hockey, skating, ball hockey, T-ball, basketball, gymnastics, soccer and multi-sport.

  • Children: drawing, multi-art and painting, cooking and baking, French and Italian, Money Smart, spelling and speech writing, chess, circuit training, yoga, karate and taekwondo, dance and theatre, ukulele, guitar and piano, glee club, design and animation, robotics and STEM, hockey, skating, archery, ball hockey, baseball, gymnastics, multisport, pickleball, squash, tennis, table tennis, soccer and volleyball.

  • Youth: cooking and baking, Money Smart, HIGH FIVE, public speaking, resumé building and interview skills, fitness, taekwondo, guitar, skating, archery and badminton.

  • Adult (ages 18 years and older): painting, Zumba, Qigong, tai chi, spin, HIIT, Queenax, group personal training, weight and muscle training, athletic training and performance, Pilates and yoga, ballroom, belly, Bollywood, Cuban rumba, hip-hop, jazz, Latin and line dancing, styling for dancers, guitar, theatre, skating, archery, multisport (women) and racquet sports (badminton, pickleball and tennis).

  • Older Adult: DanceFIT, Zumba, ArthritisFIT, ChairFIT, OsteoFIT, Qigong, SeniorFIT, tai chi, spin, muscle conditioning, yoga and chair yoga, Pilates, line dancing, guitar, crocheting, smartphone basics and pickleball.

  • Inclusion: cooking and baking, group and creative activities, social connections, clubs and social groups, the signature Vaughan Enriched Day program, private math, reading and writing, music and learn-to-skate lessons, STEM, baseball, basketball, gymnastics and multisport.

  • Special events and workshops: Nutrition workshops focused on building natural immune strength and cortisol reset; St. Patrick’s Day baking workshop; Valentine’s Day DIY crafts, paint-your-own pottery and baking workshop; Coffee Connections for older adults (free workshops); and special-interest sessions, including a home safety workshop for kids old enough to stay home alone and winter-themed crafts.
