During today’s Committee of the Whole (1) meeting, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Ward 5 Councillor Gila Martow and Members of Council recognized Tilda Roll with the 2025 Ward 5 Civic Hero Award during a special ceremonial presentation.

Tilda is a family law lawyer and mediator in Vaughan who has been practising for more than 30 years and has been working with the dispute resolution office at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario, since 2014. She has maintained a reputation for proven results, promoting reconciliation and putting children’s needs at the forefront of disputes.

Recently, Tilda reported and testified against an individual who engaged in a hate crime targeting Jewish residents in Ward 5, successfully bringing them to justice with a sentence for jail time.

Tilda has also served on the board for Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (CHAT) from 2018 to 2022 and has dedicated countless hours as a volunteer at Chabad Flamingo.

QUOTES

“I was delighted to present Tilda Roll with the 2025 Ward 5 Civic Hero Award. People like Tilda, who go above and beyond to make our community a better place to live and work, need to be recognized and celebrated. Her work as a lawyer and her volunteerism are inspiring and reflect the values of selflessness and generosity that we uphold in Vaughan. As Mayor, it is a true honour to highlight the work of those in our city who give back and support their neighbours. Even more, I am deeply touched that we have residents, like Tilda, who are willing to step up and advocate for themselves and others when injustice occurs. Antisemitism has no place in Vaughan, and we must all work together to stand up against hate. Congratulations to Tilda, and thank you for all that you do to serve our community.”
