Carrville Community Centre, Library and District Park set to open on June 30 

 

We have some exciting news to share – the new Carrville Community Centre, Library and District Park is officially opening its doors on Monday, June 30! 

 

Come explore state-of-the-art amenities, register for summer recreation programs or discover what Carrville Library has to offer. An official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 6, stay tuned for more details!

 

Located at 655 Thomas Cook Ave., the highly anticipated Ward 4 activity hub will open in phases. As of Monday, June 30, come and enjoy the following amenities at the community centre: 

  • a double gymnasium
  • an indoor running track with space for select fitness equipment
  • program rooms
  • seating areas
  • a teaching kitchen
  • a dance studio
  • lockers and change rooms
  • a 25-metre lap pool and small instructional pool
  • and more!

This new facility reflects the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability. It is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified and features 12 electric vehicle charging stations.

 

The adjacent four-hectare district park, located at 266 Valley Vista Dr., is also opening for play this month! It features a playground, walking paths, a splashpad, a skating trail (seasonal), a basketball court, an open space lawn and more, and is ready for you to enjoy. Additional amenities, such as pickleball and tennis courts, will continue to open throughout the summer – check back at vaughan.ca/CarrvilleCC for the latest updates.

 

Vaughan Public Libraries – Carrville Library

Discover a bright, modern space and access a huge collection of items, from books, music and video games to activity kits, nature backpacks and more at Carrville Library. This new library includes a dedicated children’s area, ample study space and natural lighting, a private study room and a reading patio. Visit vaughanpl.info to learn more.

 

Sign up for summer programming!

Beat the heat this summer at Carrville Community Centre by signing up for summer recreation programs, including:

  • summer camps for ages four to 12 years old, including:
    • signature recreation camps, sports, dance, water adventures, filmmaking
    • supervised Before and After Care
  • general summer recreation programs for all ages, including:
    • arts and crafts, sports, science and technology, STEM, infant massage, group fitness
  • swim lessons for all ages, including inclusion swim 1-on-1
  • aquatic leadership and special interest programs, including:
    • fitness swimmer (beginner and advanced), bronze medallion, bronze cross, assistant swim instructor, emergency and standard first aid
  • drop-in sports, fitness and swimming and aquafitness, including:
    • family basketball, adult basketball, adult pickleball, adult badminton 

 

The full lineup of recreation programming at the new Carrville Community Centre is available to view. Registration will open on Monday, June 16 at 7 a.m. for Vaughan residents and on Friday, June 20 at 7 a.m. for non-residents.
