Stay safe around stormwater ponds this summer

Many of you may be soaking up the last few weeks of summer at parks, trails and green spaces near one of the City of Vaughan’s stormwater ponds. These human-made ponds are nice to look at from a distance, but they are not intended – or safe – for recreational use!

Water constantly flows in and out of stormwater ponds, so the water levels are always changing, making any activity, like swimming or fishing, in or around them unsafe. That’s why it’s important to keep a safe distance from these ponds. 

Looking for somewhere to swim? 

Soak up the sun at the Thornhill Outdoor Pool (28 Centre St.)! Open daily from June to Labour Day (Monday, Sept. 7), you can register for drop-in recreation swim, length swim, parent and tot and aquafitness programs. Learn more at vaughan.ca/OutdoorPool.
