Improvements Are Coming to the Vaughan Mills and Rainbows End Stormwater Ponds
Great news! Improvements are coming to the Vaughan Mills and Rainbows End stormwater ponds.
The work is expected to begin in late September 2026 and is expected to be completed in early 2027.
The work areas include:
- Vaughan Mills Stormwater Pond, located in Ward 2 at Vaughan Mills Road, north of Royal Park Way
- Rainbows End Stormwater Pond, located in Ward 1 at Rainbows End, east of Highway 27 and The Boulevard
Construction vehicles will be travelling through and parked in these areas.
Improvements include:
- pond cleanup, including removal of debris and litter
- sediment removal
- water level restoration
- new tree and shrub plantings
- site restoration
Stormwater management ponds provide many benefits to the environment and community, including reducing flooding on streets and in our greenspaces, protecting the natural environment from erosion and providing a home for local wildlife. This work helps maintain the ponds’ original water levels and water quality while enhancing the beauty of the surrounding area.
