NOW OPEN: Canada Drive Bridge
The City of Vaughan is delivering another critical piece of infrastructure to help tackle gridlock and improve mobility across the city with the completion of the Canada Drive Bridge over Highway 400.
On Sept. 4, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council and other dignitaries gathered to mark this major infrastructure milestone, improving connectivity, reducing traffic congestion and keeping Vaughan moving.
The total project construction cost for the bridge is estimated at $33 million, reflecting a strong partnership among three levels of government, with the City’s share estimated at $14.5 million, $7.5 million from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund and the remaining balance coming from The Regional Municipality of York.
The project marks another significant milestone in the City’s efforts to build a more efficient and integrated transportation network. Identified as a priority in Vaughan Council’s Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock, the bridge connects Canada Drive and America Avenue over Highway 400, creating a vital new east-west connection for residents, businesses and visitors.
