Serving You Better: Fire Station 7-1 Enhancements Are Complete

The City of Vaughan is committed to keeping residents safe – and that includes making sure our fire stations are up to date and ready for emergency responders to jump into action. 

On Sept. 16, the City held a ceremony to mark the completion of upgrades to Fire Station 7-1, located at 835 Clark Ave. Mayor Steven Del Duca, Members of Council, Fire Chief Andrew Zvanitajs and other dignitaries gathered to mark this milestone. 

The revitalization of Fire Station 7-1 demonstrates the value of strategic partnerships in delivering critical community infrastructure. The $4.5-million project was made possible through contributions from all three levels of government, including $3.4 million from the City, $880,000 from the Government of Canada’s Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s (ICIP) COVID-19 Resilience Stream and $220,000 from the Government of Ontario.

Originally built in 1985, Fire Station 7-1 was identified as requiring a full-scale renewal to modernize the facility, improve operational efficiency and support the City’s sustainability goals.

The renewal project included a comprehensive upgrade of the station, featuring a reconfigured interior layout, new windows and doors, an upgraded HVAC system, energy-efficient lighting, utility service enhancements, a new backup generator, roof replacement and other key infrastructure improvements.

These enhancements will reduce electricity demand, natural gas consumption and water use while improving day-to-day operations and extending the lifespan of the facility. The project reflects the City’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining reliable, high-quality emergency services infrastructure for the Thornhill community.
