Driving toward a cleaner, greener Vaughan
Our new Green Fleet Strategy aims to reduce emissions
The City of Vaughan has introduced a new Green Fleet Strategy (PDF) to make our fleet operations more environmentally friendly. The goal is to reduce the corporate fleet’s greenhouse gas emissions by 26 per cent by 2036, and all the way to net-zero by 2050, in alignment with Canada’s federal net-zero mandate.
Ratified by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council at the Sept. 22 Council meeting, the strategy outlines a strategic and cost-effective approach to reducing vehicle emissions while improving operations.
The Green Fleet Strategy draws guidance from the 2022-2026 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan and Green Directions Vaughan. It focuses on modernizing the corporate fleet, integrating more charging infrastructure, improving efficiency and building strategic partnerships to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies.
