The City of Vaughan shows its Pride!
The City of Vaughan celebrated Pride Month with a special event at Vaughan City Hall on June 24.
The event featured official remarks from Mayor Steven Del Duca, spoken-word artist Madeline Rose Fiore, a flag-raising ceremony, educational sessions by Pflag York Region, York Pride and remarks from Melissa Lantsman, Member of Parliament for Thornhill.
“Pride Month is a wonderful celebration of love, visibility and representation. Vaughan is an inclusive and welcoming city, and we must continue to do the work to ensure that remains true. We are committed to building a city where everyone can be their true and authentic selves. As Mayor of this great city, I am proud to stand united with the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Vaughan and beyond,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca.
This event is a celebration of 2SLGBTQ+ social and self-acceptance, legal rights and pride, serving as a platform to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The City has proclaimed Pride Week every year since 2003 and Pride Month since 2020.
