Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026™ takes place in Vaughan on July 15

Game on, Vaughan! You’re invited to come out and ‘kick it’ with us on Wednesday, July 15 from noon to 8 p.m. for the City of Vaughan’s Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026™ semi-final stop at Assembly Park (80 Interchange Way). 

 

Join us for an electric, once-in-a-lifetime celebration, featuring cultural and musical performances, interactive activities, delicious food, family-friendly entertainment and, of course, the live semi-final match between England and Argentina, viewing at 3 p.m. on the big screen. Admission to this event is free.

 

Check out the live stage for an exciting lineup:

  • 1:30 p.m.: Stuck on Planet Earth

  • 2:20 p.m.: The Springcreek Dancers and Singers from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

  • 2:25 p.m.: Official welcome from the Mayor and Members of Council

  • 5:05 p.m.: Chris Kozy

  • 7 p.m.: The HIP Experience – Tribute to the Tragically Hip

Visit interactive activities throughout the venue, including:

  • Watch local youth teams take to the field on the mini pitch.

  • Show off your skills with the pylon drill, ramp challenge and more at the Fuze Field Day Challenge.

  • Test your accuracy at the Kick It With Coke shooting challenge.

  • Bring your kids to build exclusive workshop kits at the Home Depot Workshop.

  • Check out the Kia Vehicle Display.

 

Don’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle to fill up at the City’s water truck. Represent your country or semi-final team with jerseys, flags and more! 

 

As part of the Canada Celebrates program, 34 communities from across the country were selected to take turns hosting celebrations throughout the tournament, from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19. Vaughan is proud to be the only municipality in York Region participating in the Canada Celebrates program.

 

Let’s come together as a community on Wednesday, July 15 to be part of this beautiful, historic moment and celebrate our shared love of the game. 

 

Plan your parking

Parking in the area is limited, with private paid parking lots nearby. Participants are encouraged to take the TTC Subway to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station (3150 Highway 7) or York Region Transit to the SmartVMC Bus Terminal (58 Millway Ave.).

 

Limited paid short-term (three hour maximum) on-street parking is available on Apple Mill Road, Buttermill Avenue, Bent Tree Drive, New Park Place, Mable Smith Way, Autumn Harvest Way and Millway Avenue (south of Interchange Way). Parking is $1.25 per 20-minute interval or $3.75 per hour for up to a maximum of three hours. For details about on-street parking in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, visit myvmc.ca/parking.
