Following a recent announcement from the Province of Ontario, the City of Vaughan is lowering the minimum age to be a lifeguard and swim instructor to 15 years old. This change aligns with updated age requirements established by the Lifesaving Society’s lifeguard and lifesaving and swim instructor certification courses.
Biweekly collection begins the week of June 13
As spring shifts to summer, the City of Vaughan’s weekly leaf and yard waste collection moves to a biweekly schedule. Yard waste materials will be picked up every other week starting the week of June 13, depending on your scheduled collection day.

As the heat warning continues for Vaughan, come cool off at one of the City of Vaughan’s 20 splashpads! All locations are now open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to weather and surface conditions.

The Weston 7 Secondary Plan
The Weston 7 area is evolving. The City of Vaughan is undertaking a Weston 7 Secondary Plan to guide the transformation of this area into a complete, vibrant and active community. Once complete, Weston 7 will be a distinct urban destination with a variety of commercial, cultural and entertainment amenities, and parks and open space, supported by housing, jobs and community facilities.

The Yonge-Steeles corridor is evolving. As part of its growth, the City of Vaughan is undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment study for the proposed extensions of Royal Palm Drive and Powell Road. The City is proposing an extension of Royal Palm Drive, from Hilda Avenue to Yonge Street, and of Powell Road, from Pinewood Drive to Steeles Avenue West.
