As some of us begin ‘wrapping’ up the holiday festivities, the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone where to dispose of real Christmas trees, broken glass ornaments and old electronics.

Cooking a holiday feast? Remember to safely dispose of leftover fats, oils and grease – do not pour these substances down the sink or toilet!

Fats, oils and grease – such as butter, olive oil, gravy and meat fat – can clog pipes if they are poured down the drain. This can lead to sewer backups, which can cause flooding in your and your neighbours’ homes and possible environmental concerns.

With holiday festivities in full swing, you may have some extra waste materials to put at the curb – which may require more bins or bags! Here’s how to purchase garbage tags, blue boxes and green bins from the City of Vaughan.

The process

The City of Vaughan has been working towards creating the new Vaughan Official Plan 2025 to better meet the needs of current and future residents, businesses and those who visit Vaughan. The new Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Secondary Plan and new Weston 7 Secondary Plan will form part of Volume 2 of the new Vaughan Official Plan 2025.
