What’s open and closed in Vaughan on Victoria Day
With the Victoria Day long weekend right around the corner, the City of Vaughan is reminding you about facility closures and alternate hours on Monday, May 19, so you can plan ahead.
Municipal facilities
Most facilities – including City Hall – will be closed on Monday, May 19, reopening on Tuesday, May 20. Essential services, such as fire and emergency response and by-law and enforcement services, will continue uninterrupted. Non-essential administrative services will resume on Tuesday, May 20, by phone, email, online and in person.
While the City’s in-person contact centre will be closed on Monday, May 19, a live agent will be available by phone at 905-832-2281 to respond to municipal emergencies.

Community centres and recreational programming
Vaughan community centres will be closed on Monday, May 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, May 20. There will be no recreation programs, swim lessons or drop-in recreational activities on Victoria Day. Programs and services will run as scheduled on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18.

Vaughan Public Libraries
All Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) branches will be closed on Monday, May 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, May 20, during regular business hours. To view the hours of operation at all branches, visit vaughanpl.info.
Have fun at home with VPL! With an internet connection and a VPL library card, you can enjoy many free online resources available through VPL’s website, including access to eBooks and audiobooks, films and television programs, music streaming services, e-learning courses, bilingual materials and more.
Waste collection
There is no waste collection on Mondays, so waste collection for the week of May 19 will not change. Remember to have waste set out by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day. Crews will not return for waste that was not set out on time.

Vaughan Animal Services
The Vaughan Animal Services shelter will be closed to the public on Monday, May 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, May 20. You can purchase pet licensing tags online at any time through Service Vaughan. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/AnimalServices.
