What’s open and closed in Vaughan over the holiday weekend

City service changes and modified hours from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10


With many residents observing holidays this weekend, the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone of facility closures, modified hours and alternate programming from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10. Here is all you need to know to plan ahead so you can spend quality time with family, friends and loved ones. 

 

Municipal facilities

Most facilities – including Vaughan City Hall – will be closed from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10, reopening on Tuesday, April 11. Essential services, such as fire and emergency response and by-law and enforcement services, will continue uninterrupted. Non-essential administrative services will resume on Tuesday, April 11, by phone, email, online and in-person.

 

Community centres and recreational programming

Vaughan community centres will be closed on Friday, April 7 and Sunday, April 9. Recreation programs and swim lessons, as well as drop-in recreational activities, be cancelled on those days. Programs and services will run as scheduled on Saturday, April 8 and Monday, April 10.

Vaughan Public Libraries

All Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) branches will be closed on Friday, April 7, Sunday, April 9 and Monday, April 10. The branches will be open on Saturday, April 8 during regular business hours. To view the hours of operation at all branches, visit vaughanpl.info.

 

Have fun at home with VPL! With an internet connection and a VPL library card you can enjoy many free online resources available through VPL’s website, including access to eBooks and eAudiobooks, films and television programs, music streaming services, e-learning courses, bilingual materials, and more.

 

Waste collection

Waste regularly scheduled for pickup on Friday, April 7 will be moved by one day to Saturday, April 8. Please have waste set out by 7 a.m. on your collection day. There is no waste collection on Mondays, so waste collection for the week of April 10 will not change.

 

You can register online to purchase garbage tags, blue boxes and green bins and exchange broken City-branded bins through Service Vaughan. Download the Recycle Coach app through the Apple App Store or Google Play for a personalized collection schedule, custom pick-up reminders and the “What Goes Where?” search tool. Vaughan Animal Services

The Vaughan Animal Services Shelter will be closed to the public from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10, and will reopen on Tuesday, April 11. You can purchase pet licensing tags online at any time through Service Vaughan. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/AnimalServices

 

Contact Centre

The City’s contact centre at Vaughan City Hall will be closed on from Friday, April 7 to Monday, April 10, and resume regular hours on Tuesday, April 11. However, a live agent will be available by phone to respond to municipal emergencies. If you’re calling to report a municipal emergency, please stay on the line to be connected to the after-hours answering service.
