Vaughan Remembers
You’re invited to the City’s Remembrance Month Ceremony on Nov. 2
Residents are invited to attend the City of Vaughan’s Remembrance Month ceremony on Monday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.).
Following the ceremony, attendees can share their thoughts of remembrance, peace and hope on the City’s Poppy Mural and explore a historical exhibit that pays tribute to the wartime experiences of those from Vaughan and York Region who served during the World Wars.
This year’s exhibit, Threads of Courage and Connection, explores how residents of Vaughan and present-day York Region experienced the World Wars through service, sacrifice and community support. Through photographs, medals, letters and other artifacts, the exhibit reveals the personal stories of those who served and the ways families and communities remained connected through periods of distance, uncertainty and loss. The exhibit will be on display at Vaughan City Hall until Friday, Nov. 13, and online at vaughan.ca/RemembranceMonth for one year.
Remembrance Day service
Residents are also invited to honour Canadians who served and continue to serve our country at the City’s Remembrance Day service on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbridge Cenotaph (80 Wallace St.). Refreshments will be provided at the Woodbridge Memorial Pool and Arena (5020 Highway 7) following the service.
