Bonfires, campfires and fire pits are prohibited until further notice

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) has issued a fire ban on all outdoor and open-air burning, effective Tuesday, Aug. 12, in response to the ongoing dry and hot weather conditions.

This includes prohibiting the use of outdoor wood-burning appliances, like fire pits and fireplaces, bonfires, chimineas and campfires, until further notice. VFRS will continue to monitor weather and air quality conditions and updates will be posted at vaughan.ca

Until the ban is lifted, the following restrictions are in place to protect public safety:

  • Existing fire permits are cancelled.

  • No new fire permits will be issued.

  • Open fires or burning debris of any kind is not permitted.

This ban does not apply to cooking appliances like barbecues, however, VFRS encourages residents to take precautions. More information is available at vaughan.ca/fire.
