Vaughan resident recognized for volunteerism

At tonight's Committee of the Whole (Public Meeting), Mayor Steven Del Duca, Ward 4 Councillor Chris Ainsworth, and Members of Council recognized Dave Elfassy as the 2023 Ward 4 Civic Hero.

Dave has been an active volunteer at the Vaughan Food Bank for the past six years, helping provide food and toys for those in need. He has also helped raise funds for SickKids hospital by supporting the Thornhill Woods Haunted House through his donations of treats, gift cards, clothing and tickets. Dave has helped organize community triathlon events for children and families to promote physical activity and a positive relationship with exercise.

As a passionate advocate for the environment, Dave’s love of our city’s greenspaces extends well past his property line. In his spare time, he consistently works to keep Vaughan’s neighbourhoods beautiful, participating in regular community cleanups to ensure the city’s pristine natural beauty endures for future generations.
