Avi Grinberg is the 2026 Ward 5 Civic Hero!
During today’s Committee of the Whole (2) meeting, Mayor Steven Del Duca, Ward 5 Councillor Gila Martow and Members of Council recognized Avi Grinberg with the 2026 Ward 5 Civic Hero Award during a special ceremonial presentation.
Avi Grinberg is a dedicated community volunteer who has devoted many years to supporting others through his service with Chai Lifeline, an organization that provides critical assistance to families facing terminal illnesses.
Since Shomrim Toronto's incorporation in 2021, Avi has also played a key role in helping establish and grow the organization into a trusted, volunteer‑based community security team. Through this work, he has committed countless hours to supporting community safety at local events and responding to incidents and emergencies across Vaughan and Toronto. As a Shomrim Toronto volunteer, Avi has also helped protect residents from antisemitic incidents and other safety concerns.
Most recently, Avi has further demonstrated his dedication to community leadership by joining the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee (CJPAC) through this year’s CJPAC Action Party, continuing his efforts to make a positive and lasting impact.
