Attend a hiring event at Rosemount Community Centre for Learn to Skate Instructors and Skate Patrol

An in-person hiring event will be held on Wednesday, February 1 from 3-5pm at Rosemount Community Centre, located at 1000 New Westminster Dr. Proficient ice skaters 16 years of age and older are invited to attend; pre-registration is not required. Candidates are asked to bring their own skates and a helmet to complete a required on-ice skating demonstration. A resume is recommended but not necessary. Positions start immediately.


Skate Program Instructors
Rosemount Arena
Shifts are on Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
or Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Compensation: $17.65 per hour

Skate Patrol
Dufferin Clark Community Centre outdoor rink
Shifts are on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Compensation: $16.50 per hour

What you need to work for us:
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (within 3 months of employment start date) 
  • Aquatics: National Lifeguard AND/OR Lifesaving & Swim Instructor
  • Specialty certifications where required

Applying is easy!
If you’re interested in working as a Recreation Program staff, register for a Virtual Hiring Event (search under ‘Recreation Staff Recruitment > Become a Recreation Program Instructor’).
Once you have registered, a Recreation Services staff will call you to coordinate an interview time and email you a link to the virtual interview.
 
If you’re interested in working as a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor, register for an in-water interview (search under ‘Becoming a Swim Instructor & Lifeguard > In-water Interview’) at your local pool. What’s an in-water interview? Watch our demo videos to prepare yourself.
