Older adults in Vaughan are active, curious and always on the lookout for new opportunities to make connections in their community.

The City's Recreation Services team is here to highlight the many programs and classes available for seniors to move, meet and play.

Stay active

Looking for a way to get moving or try something different? Local recreation programs make it simple to get started, whether your focus is building strength, increasing energy or spending more time out and about.

With the City of Vaughan, options like yoga and pilates, and dance and movement classes offer flexible ways to participate. Every session is designed to feel approachable, letting you move at your own pace while still enjoying a bit of challenge along the way.

Plenty of Vaughan older adult recreation programs are low-cost, so staying active can fit more comfortably into your routine.

Learn and connect

Staying active is important but feeling connected matters just as much. Recreation experiences can help build confidence, support independence and bring a sense of purpose to everyday life.

Sometimes it starts with a small step, like joining a class to improve balance and leaving with a few new friendly faces. Other times, it could mean attending a workshop, picking up a new interest or simply enjoying something to look forward to each week.

Free programs and workshops such as Coffee Connections or Convos and Canvasses create space for relaxed conversation and shared learning. Each session offers a chance to hear from guest speakers and explore topics like brain health, finances and more in an easy, welcoming setting.

It’s all about you

Everyone’s aging journey looks different, and that’s something worth celebrating. Across Vaughan, older adults continue to show that staying engaged and active can take many forms.

That idea comes to life through the City’s #AgelessAndUnstoppable campaign, which highlights the energy and confidence of residents living life on their own terms.

Take a moment to watch the video featuring local seniors and see the stories for yourself.

Recreation opportunities are part of a larger Age-Friendly Community Action Plan focused on helping residents thrive at every stage of life.

Through accessible programs and inclusive spaces, the City continues to support well-being, independence and connection in meaningful ways.

No matter your interests, there’s always something new to explore or revisit.
