Winter Maintenance

The City of Vaughan provides residents with a high level of snow removal services. Whether it’s reducing ice or removing snow on roads or clearing it from paths, sidewalks and windrows, the City’s crews strive to ensure residents and visitors can travel safely despite the weather.

The City’s winter maintenance operations include salting, windrow clearing, plowing and snow removal along more than 2,200 lane-kilometres of roads and 1,200 kilometres of sidewalks throughout the city.

Vaughan to declare a Significant Weather Event

The City of Vaughan will declare a Significant Weather Event effective Feb. 18 at 5:30 a.m. based on the winter storm warning issued by Environment Canada. Conditions are favourable for the development of 10 to 15 centimetres of snow, freezing rain and ice pellets throughout the day into the evening.

Due to the forecasted conditions, it may take longer than usual to service City roads, sidewalks and/or bicycle lanes. Staff will continue to monitor weather forecasts and make the necessary decisions and adjustments to operations.
