Winter Maintenance
The City of Vaughan provides residents with a high level of snow removal services. Whether it’s reducing ice or removing snow on roads or clearing it from paths, sidewalks and windrows, the City’s crews strive to ensure residents and visitors can travel safely despite the weather.
The City’s winter maintenance operations include salting, windrow clearing, plowing and snow removal along more than 2,200 lane-kilometres of roads and 1,200 kilometres of sidewalks throughout the city.
Snow Removal Support for Older Adults
Winter preparedness starts before the snow arrives. Older adults and their families are encouraged to explore private snow-clearing options early to ensure support is in place for the season.
Bridges of Love
Vaughan residents can apply for assistance through Bridges of Love, a volunteer-run charity offering free snow removal for eligible residents aged 65 and older, with support from the City of Vaughan. Learn more at bridgesofloveyr.com.
CHATS Snow Clearing Program
Residents may also consider the CHATS Snow Clearing Program, a paid service for adults aged 55 and older that connects homeowners with pre-approved snow-clearing providers, with subsidies available for eligible participants. Learn more at chats.on.ca/snow.
