Nominations Now Being Accepted For Arts Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the third annual Recognizing Arts Vaughan Excellence (R.A.V.E.) Awards. Developed by the City of Vaughan, these awards recognize the contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations that have enhanced the visual, performing and literary arts in Vaughan.
R.A.V.E. nominations must be affiliated with one of the following three disciplines: visual, performing, or literary arts. Within each discipline, nominations may be made in one of these categories: Patron of the Arts, Art Educator/Mentor, Practicing Artist, or Rising Star. The deadline to submit nomination packages has been extended to March 11, 2011.
The City is also accepting submissions for the City of Vaughan Award for Higher Arts Education. Now in its second year, the scholarship program was established to assist Vaughan students pursuing a post-secondary education in the arts. Two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to students currently enrolled in secondary and post-secondary education programs in any arts discipline. Selection of award recipients will be based on financial need and academic merit. The deadline for student submission packages is May 1, 2011. The City of Vaughan Award for Higher Arts Education is made possible, in part, through the generous contribution of SmartCentres.
The ceremony for both the R.A.V.E. Awards and the City of Vaughan Award for Higher Arts Education awards will take place in June, 2011. Entry forms and eligibility criteria for both awards are available online at www.vaughan.ca.
