Meet Our Firefighters and Learn About Fire Safety
Attend the free annual Fire Prevention Week event on Oct. 3
Gather your friends and family – the annual Fire Prevention Week event returns on Saturday, Oct. 3!
You’re invited to join Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service for a day of free, family-friendly activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.). During the event, you can:
check out the Hazard House display
indulge in free popcorn
learn how to manage cooking fires in the test kitchen
participate in a fire hose target practice
strike a pose at the photobooth
tour a firetruck
visit interactive fire safety stations
and so much more!
This year’s event kicks off Fire Prevention Week, which is recognized each year during the week of Oct. 9 by the National Fire Prevention Association. This annual initiative, proclaimed by the City of Vaughan from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10, 2026, is observed by fire departments across North America to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 and the devastation it caused. This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” raises awareness of everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires.
