Ward 2 Civic Hero Award presented to Giuliano Todaro

Giuliano Todaro is a local hero. He is the founder of Giuliano’s Journey --  a non-profit organization promoting education and research funding to assist in finding a cure and treating children with leukemia. As a true role model, he works tirelessly with parents and volunteers of his organization, contributing much of his time to the betterment of the community.

At the tender age of 10, Giuliano was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. During his in-hospital treatment for the disease, he knew that he wanted to help other children who were in the same situation. Along with his parents, Marisa and Tino Todaro, he decided to start Giuliano’s Journey in June 2011 to raise funds for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). His involvement in many fundraisers to date has culminated in raising more than $100,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Program for pediatric research at SickKids.

In October 2016, he was recognized with the Order of Vaughan for philanthropy, which included his extraordinary commitment to helping others and working to find a cure for leukemia. In 2017, he was a member of the Order of Vaughan Selection Committee to choose that year’s Order of Vaughan recipients. Giuliano continues his mission to help children who are fighting for their lives, and uses his optimism and determination to inspire citizens to do the same.
