The City breaks ground on Bass Pro Mills Drive Extension 

The City of Vaughan is taking another major step to fight traffic gridlock and help families move faster across the city with the Bass Pro Mills Drive extension between Highway 400 and Weston Road. 

On Aug. 28, Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council gathered to break ground on the Bass Pro Mills Drive Extension, a major infrastructure investment that will improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion and keep Vaughan moving. 

The project marks another significant milestone in the City’s efforts to build a more efficient and integrated transportation network. Identified as a priority in Vaughan Council’s Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock, the extension will connect Bass Pro Mills Drive from Highway 400 to Weston Road, creating a vital new east-west corridor for residents, businesses and visitors.

 

The Bass Pro Mills Drive Extension will:

• create a new east-west multimodal connection between Highway 400 and Weston Road.
• help ease traffic congestion on Rutherford Road and surrounding corridors.
• support future growth and development in the area.
• enhance transportation options for all road users.
• provide safe and comfortable infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and other active transportation users.

The Bass Pro Mills Drive Extension is expected to be completed in 2030.
