Help keep catch basins clear

Branches and debris on a catch basin

Catch basins are stormwater drains located in the road, and they give melting snow and rainwater somewhere to drain. But if a catch basin is blocked or covered by leaves, yard waste or debris, water can pool and flood on the street.

We need your help clearing catch basins!

Residents living near catch basins are encouraged to help keep them clear of leaves, yard waste and debris if it’s safe to do so. If you’re mowing your lawn or clearing leaves off your property, check to see if the catch basin by your home is covered or blocked.

If you see water ponding or flooding on the street near a catch basin, call the City at 905-832-2281 or email service@vaughan.ca

By helping keep our catch basins clear this summer, you’re helping keep our streets clean and safe. For  more information about the City’s stormwater management operations, visit vaughan.ca/stormwater.
