The City of Vaughan has received a $16,950 royalty payment from Munirom Technologies Inc. from the sale of a made-in-Vaughan Development Tracking Application (DTA). The royalty payment is the second received by the City from Munirom since 2008.

“This application we helped develop is now being packaged as leading-edge computer technology for use in other municipalities,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Vaughan’s investment in this technology is an example of the City’s commitment to excellence through innovation, and our reputation as a municipal leader.”

DTA uses Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping technology to record land development applications from submission to completion, providing more efficient planning, management and development of the City’s land-based assets and infrastructure. A DTA software license was recently purchased by the Regional Municipality of Niagara.

“GIS is one of several corporate-wide computer-based systems the City has invested in to increase efficiency, and provide better services to our residents and businesses,” said City Manager Clayton Harris. “The City also benefits from the strong interest in this software from other municipalities by obtaining a royalty on any future sales.”
