Every month, the City will release popular questions and answers received and responded to by Access Vaughan in a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered.’ Below are the top five inquiries received in July.
 
How can I exchange my damaged blue box or green bin?
With City of Vaughan facilities closed due to COVID-19, the Environmental Services department is piloting a program to allow residents to replace broken City blue boxes and green bins through home delivery. All broken blue boxes and green bins branded with the City of Vaughan logo are eligible for free exchange. Deliveries will be made on the day following scheduled waste collection, subject to availability. To request an exchange and arrange a delivery, residents can call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281. What do I do if I see sick, injured or dead wildlife?
Vaughan Animal Services is on call to respond to your concerns. To report any matters relating to urban wildlife, contact Access Vaughan by phone at 905-832-2281 or email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca. All reported cases will be referred to Vaughan Animal Services to investigate and resolve.  
 
How do I report non-compliance with the regional mask requirements?
For more information about the wearing of masks or face coverings in York Region, visit york.ca/MandatoryMasks. Concerns on this topic can be reported through Access Vaughan by phone at 905-832-2281 or email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca. All reported cases will be referred to the City’s By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services department.  
 
How do I know which park amenities have reopened?
Updates about reopened amenities in Vaughan are available at vaughan.ca/ReopeningVaughan. At this time, the following facilities have reopened:
  • Basketball courts
  • Benches
  • Bocce courts
  • Off-leash dog park
  • Outdoor exercise equipment
  • Parking lots
  • Picnic tables and gazebos
  • Playgrounds
  • Premium/artificial fields and diamonds (by permit)
  • Skateboard parks
  • Splashpads (hours extended to 9 p.m. daily)
  • Sports fields and baseball diamonds
  • Tennis courts
  • Trails
  • Washrooms 
What are the due dates for the final tax bill?
Final billing due dates for all properties have been extended as part of the City’s COVID-19 relief measures. The 2020 final residential property tax bills that are normally billed in June and due in July, August and September have been billed in July with the following due dates: Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020 (first instalment), Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 (second instalment) and Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 (third instalment). Visit vaughan.ca/PropertyTax to learn more about your bill and the many payment options available, including online banking, mail or pre-authorized programs. 
 
While Vaughan City Hall remains closed to the public in response to COVID-19, most in-person services have been suspended at this time. Many virtual programs and services are in place. Access Vaughan will respond promptly to all phone or email inquiries in priority sequence during regular business hours – Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Outside of these core hours, a live agent will be available to respond to municipal emergencies, including COVID-19-related inquiries 24/7.
