IMPORTANT COVID-19 RELATED SERVICE UPDATE

As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, changes have been made to the penalty notice and ticket dispute resolution process. Penalty notice and ticket disputes are being conducted over the phone until further notice. Alternative arrangements will be made for residents who currently have a dispute appointment that is scheduled prior to Monday, June 1. If you have an upcoming appointment or wish to schedule an appointment, please call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 to schedule a phone-in screening.

Hearings to dispute decisions made during screening appointments are suspended at this time and will be rescheduled beginning in January 2021. If you wish to dispute the decision, please notify the screening officer at the conclusion of your screening appointment.  You will be contacted when hearings have resumed.

Dispute a ticket

If you receive a ticket, you have two options:

1. Pay the ticket amount.
or
2. Make an appointment to dispute it within 15 days of receiving the ticket.
Disputes of tickets may take place in person, by telephone, or through email – all disputes are by appointment only. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, you may appoint an agent to dispute the penalty on your behalf. If you cannot make your appointment or appoint an agent to act on your behalf, you must call By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services to cancel your screening and avoid additional fees being charged.

Dispute process:

1. Make a screening appointment by calling 905-832-2281.

2. Attend your scheduled phone-in screening appointment.

3. Once disputed, the issue is reviewed by a screening officer.

4. If the dispute is not resolved with the screening officer, you may request to appear before a hearings officer.  Please note that appointments to appear before a hearings officer will be scheduled in 2021

Rescheduling:

In the event that you need to change your screening date or time, please ensure you notify our office no less than 24 hours in advanced of the scheduled screening appointment.
