Register your kids for Vaughan’s P.A. Day camps!
As summer break comes to a close, it is never too early to prepare for upcoming P.A. Days. Check out the Fall Recreation eGuide to view all the cool and exciting camps the City of Vaughan has to offer and register online at vaughan.ca/camps.
P.A. Day camps will run on Friday, Sept. 26, Friday, Oct. 24 and Friday, Nov. 21. Camps are available at select community centres and Vaughan Studios & Event Space for kids ages four to 14 years old. Here are a few community favourites:
Paint Your Own Pottery (for ages three to 14 years old)
Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun
Apply your unique artistic style with pottery paint and then leave your finished creative gem with us to glaze and fire in a kiln. The completed masterpiece will be packaged and ready for pick up the following week at your respective community centre. This P.A. Day camp is available at:
- Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) on Friday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon
- North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.) on Friday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon
AI Ignite: Junior (for ages six to eight years old)
Delivered in partnership with Logic Fusion
Discover the fascinating field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to solve real-world problems. Create your own machine-learning models to classify images, predict labels and use computer vision. This P.A. Day camp is available at:
- Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) on Friday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cartoon Computer Animation (for ages six to 11 years old)
Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds
Dive into STEAM and the creative world of cartoon animation! Learn storyboarding, create short computer animated cartoons, television shows or movies, and develop logical thinking skills. This P.A. Day camp is available at:
- Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Rosemount Community Centre (1000 New Westminster Dr.) on Friday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
School's Out! (for ages seven to 12 years old)
Enjoy a day of camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play and special events, while making new friends! This P.A. Day camp is available at:
- Carville Community Centre (655 Thomas Cook Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Chancellor Community Centre (350 Ansley Grove Rd.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
AI Ignite (for ages nine to 14 years old)
Delivered in partnership with Logic Fusion
This program combines the basics of AI and machine learning (ML) with fun, hands-on projects. Build your own ML models that can identify real-world objects and sounds with impressive accuracy, all while learning the crucial role of data and how to collect it to train your models. Expand your skills to bring your AI creations to life, using their intelligence to accomplish tasks in the physical world. This P.A. Day camp is available at:
- Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave.) on Friday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
